Make a Loop-in-Loop Silver Chain
This course takes place for one day, on Sunday 9th January 2022.
Learn how to make your own loop-in-loop chain in our bright and shiny jewellery making workshop in Birmingham. Different from our usual set-project courses, this one-day jewellery class will teach you all the techniques to make a woven style of chain which you can complete (or make longer and longer!) in your own time at home, or in our Studio Sessions. A sleek and unique chain for you to work on and add to in the coming winter months.
This Improver Level 1 jewellery making course is suitable for students who have completed our Beginners course. It takes place on one Sunday daytime from 10.00am-4.00pm, with a 1-hour break for lunch and plenty of nice cafes nearby to choose from. Adding to the skills that you have already learnt as a beginner, on this course you will learn to make and solder multiple large jumprings in batches. Once you’ve made a number of them, you will learn to weave them together and even them up to make a slinky silver chain. The tutor will show you all the steps to make your chain, for you to carry on with and complete outside of this one-day course. You will be provided with a printed handout in case you need a little reminder along the way, and to refer back to as you work on it some more!
You will need to bring your own apron to class, along with reading glasses if you wear them and a notebook and pen.
This improvers course improves your small-scale soldering, as well as giving you a project that you can work on as and when you can fit it in. This is the second course in a series of chain-making courses The JQ Set will be running, and they will be getting progressively more difficult! To keep costs lower, the price of this course includes enough silver to make an approx 10cm length of the chain (half a bracelet, quarter of a necklace), so to complete a piece you will need to purchase your own extra silver.
