Make a Silver Bangle with Sliding Rings
This course takes place every Wednesday evening for 6 weeks, starting Wednesday 16th September.
Learn how to make your own silver bangle in our bright and shiny jewellery making workshop in Birmingham. You will learn to size and make a silver bangle with your own individual combination of wire shape, sliding rings and hammered texture (if you like). A wonderful and personalised bangle for you to wear home at the end of the course or to give away as a gift to mark a special occasion.
This Improver Level 1 jewellery making course is suitable for students who have completed our Beginners course. It takes place over six consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm-8.30pm. Adding to the skills that you have already learnt as a beginner, on this course you will start by choosing the wire combination for the bangle and sliding rings. Once you’ve chosen your favourite combo, you will learn jumpring making, larger-scale soldering, and how to hammer a texture into the sliding rings. For those of you who like more of a challenge, we will be twisting the wire for the bangle, and sizing the sliding rings so that they fit perfectly to spin around the twist of the metal. The tutor will make the silver bangle alongside you and use their piece to demonstrate each step. You will be provided with a printed handout in case you need a little reminder along the way, and to refer back to if you’d like to make another set! Each class takes you through the next stage of the process, so please make sure you can attend all the dates.
You will need to bring your own apron to class, along with reading glasses if you wear them and a notebook and pen.
This improvers course adds techniques to your skill-set, like soldering larger-scale objects using a larger propane torch rather than the bench torch we usually use at The JQ Set. Following on from this course, you could also choose to build on these skills, like sweat-soldering, texturing and doming in the Domed Pendant and Earrings course.
You can read all about our Covid-19 social distancing procedures for the teaching studio here.
Note: We are currently having to increase some of our course prices a little, to cover the high price of silver at the moment.
