Make A Saw-Pierced Silver Ring
This course takes place every Sunday for 3 weeks, starting Sunday 3rd October.
Learn how to make a silver ring in our bright and shiny jewellery making workshop in Birmingham. You will learn to make a wide silver ring band incorporating your very own cut-out design. A unique and personalised piece of jewellery for you to wear home at the end of the course or to give away as a gift.
This jewellery making course is suitable for complete beginners, or those who have attended one of our Taster classes or a jewellery experience day elsewhere. It takes place over three consecutive Sunday daytimes from 10.00-16.00, with a 1 hour break for lunch and plenty of nice cafes nearby to choose from. Step by step, you will learn drilling, saw-piercing, filing/buffing, soldering and polishing as you make and finish your ring. The tutor will make a silver ring alongside you, and will use their piece to demonstrate each step. You will be provided with a printed handout in case you need a little reminder along the way, and to refer back to if you’d like to make it again another time. Each class takes you through the next stage of the process of ring-making, so please make sure you can attend all the dates.
You will need to bring your own apron to class, along with reading glasses if you wear them and a notebook and pen.
This beginners course will give you a strong foundation in jewellery making skills, so you can learn enough to make other pieces of jewellery that use the same techniques. You could also choose to build on the skills learnt on this course, and add new ones to your toolbox, by progressing onto our Improver level courses. Add skills like wax-carving, which is very different to metalwork, on our Wax-Carved Pendant course scheduled for October 2021. If you can’t make these dates, sign up to our Newsletter to find out first when the next round of courses are available to book.
