Taster: Make your own Silver Earrings
UPDATED DATE: This course takes place on Saturday 24th April.
Learn how to make a pair of silver earrings in our bright and shiny jewellery making workshop in Birmingham. You will learn to make a textured pair of silver drop earring, with handmade earwires. A unique and personalised piece of jewellery for you to wear home at the end of the course or to give away as a gift.
This jewellery making course is suitable for complete beginners, or those who have attended a jewellery experience day elsewhere. It takes place on a Saturday daytime from 10.00-16.00, with a 1 hour break for lunch and plenty of nice cafes nearby to choose from. Step by step, you will learn texturing, drilling, saw-piercing, filing/buffing, wirework, and polishing as you make and finish your earrings. The tutor will make a pair of silver earrings alongside you, and will use their piece to demonstrate each step. There will be the option to upgrade to make a pair of cufflinks instead of earrings for an extra £10, with the soldering for these done by the tutor – you’ll be shown how, but it’s a tricky soldering job for a first attempt.
You will need to bring your own apron to class, along with reading glasses if you wear them and a notebook and pen.
This taster course will give you a few basic jewellery making skills, and are geared more towards an experience day – a project you can start and finish in a day. If you’d like a stronger foundation in the skills needed to make other pieces of jewellery, you could choose to progress onto our Beginners course, which add essential jewellery making skills like soldering and a bit of simple metallurgy for background knowledge.
