Finishing-Off Day (Rent-a-Bench) – Saturday Studio Session
This Studio Session takes place for one day, on Saturday 5th December.
Here’s something a bit different – an opportunity for you to rent a jewellery bench in our bright and shiny jewellery making workshop in Birmingham! It takes place on a Saturday daytime from 10.00-16.00, with a 1-hour break for lunch and plenty of nice cafes nearby to choose from.
Usually, our Studio Session spots are only available on full courses that are running with unfilled spaces on them. Due to the current situation, I’ve taken the decision to limit class sizes to 5 students, and that has impacted on the availability of Studio Session places. So, I’m putting on a weekend of Studio Sessions for finishing-off, so that students can complete and polish up any unfinished projects ahead of the festive gifting season!
All our usual tools will be available for you to use, but you will need to supply your own materials for these sessions. Please limit this to “clean” metals like silver and copper – we are a “clean” workshop and you cannot work in any contaminating metals in the studio, like steel, aluminium, lead and pewter. Please check ahead if you are wanting to work in anything other than silver, copper and gilding metal, as there may be the need for H&S requirements such as masks, extra ventilation etc that The JQ Set will need to evaluate.
You will need to bring your own apron, along with reading glasses if you wear them and a notebook and pen.
This session is available to The JQ Set students only – any unknown student bookings will be cancelled. You will need to have completed our Beginners Course as a minimum, and you will need to be able to work untutored during the Studio Session. I will be available in the session for a few minutes support and question-answering for each student, and I will be supervising the whole session for safety. As with all of our daytime courses, there will be a one-hour lunch break, during which the studio will be closed and locked.
